For this project I based it on renewable energy. Each letter is a source of renewable energy. So basically for the future I think there should be more sources to conserve energy and help the earth. For the mind map I thought of a way we could conserve energy, which was the wave device. The device gets energy every time a wave hits it.
I'm not exactly sure what is suppose to be done for this project. I did a sketch on how a device that is put deep in the ocean get energy. This device is in the middle of the ocean, it gets energy from the waves. When waves hit this device is collects energy. The weather can get really bad & when it does the waves get stronger, so when they do the device gets more energy. This energy can be used for many things.
For this project I knew I wanted to make a crayon art. I just wasn't sure what theme to do. It took me a while to figure out what theme to do. So I was just viewing some crayon art that other people made & I saw a batman one, but since superman is better I decided to do superman.
Since this is a 3-D project I had to figure out how to make it 3-D. Ms. Schumann gave me the idea of using cardboard and making 3 superman logo and stacking them on top of each other. After having it all together I wrapped it with aluminium foil and I mixed brown and a little bit of blue paint to put it over the aluminum and rubbed it off. Once the crayons were glued on to it, I started to melt them. I struggled a lot with this step. I couldn't get the crayons to stay in one place and just drip down. Jazmine helped me with this. After having the crayons done, I tried to melt some on the logo but it was hard so I just splatted some paint on it. At the beginning I was confused on what we had to make. So I searched up styrogami to get some ideas. I thought that it would be hard to plan something out and make it from a sketch. I did make a sketch but I didn't really do what I was planning to. During the process I couldn't get the styrogami to look like my sketch, so what i did was just make it randomly. I started to just cut out any kind of shapes and cut shapes into the cup. With the extra pieces I just added them to the top or around it. I like some of them, but others not so much so I would keep trying until I really really liked it. I actually liked doing this project and i liked how my styrogami came out without having a sketch to follow. Fun Theory is when you have something simple or boring and create it into something exciting or fun. It's like making things more creative. If I was to do a fun theory, I would probably make washing hands more fun. Many people don't wash their hands so what I would do is make the want to wash their hands. The way that I would do this is that while washing your hands you can make music. When you turn on the water, get soap and when you're rubbing your hands together, there would be a different sound for each thing.
During art school Phil Hansen had a shake in his hand, he wasn't able to draw a straight line. He got this from making art out of a lot of tiny dots and was in his way of becoming an artist. So, he dropped out of art school and left art completely afterwards. He returned to art after 3 years. He started to create art out of the lines he was able to draw, scribbles. It wasn't really the type of art he liked but it made him feel good because he had found a way to create art again. He made art in any different ways, he found ways that wouldn't hurt his hand while doing it. He made a piece out of stories people would tell him. He would also create art that could be destroyed, he created 23 of these. Destroying these projects help him learn how to let go of things.
In the beginning I wanted to make something scary, but after looking at pictures I just decided to make something simple. So I looked up halloween makeup and wanted to do that on my pumpkin. I used like 3 pictures and took ideas from those. I didn't really get into the details , I just did the simple things on the pumpkin. In the process, I didn't really get into challenges. I did struggle a little with getting the eyes the same size and the flowers in the eyes. It took me a while to complete that. Another thing was the thing on the top. The creases on the pumpkin is what made it hard to do that web thingy. I couldn't get it to be straight and even. I somewhat like how my pumpkin came out but I did enjoy making it. I kinda wanted it to have more color and a little more detail. If I was to do this all over again, I would still do the same thing but add more things, make it more creative.
We started with searching ceramics made from artist. In the beginning of this project I had no idea of what to make. After playing with the clay and looking at some images I got an idea of what to make. I started sketching. I was thinking of doing my name as the outline. So the top would be my name but I thought it would be complicated. I decided to just make a box and on the top design it with something that relates to me. In the middle of the process I was struggling with getting the sides the same size and height. So I measured the the sides to make them the same. I attached them to the sides of the walls then smoothed them together, making the walls stand up on there own. When I did the top I wasn't sure what to put on the top, I was going to put my name but instead I tried to do somewhat of a sunset. I decided to do a sunset because I enjoying looking at sunsets. Overall, I actually like how my ceramic came out even though I wanted to make it differently. It was good considering it was my first time making one. I had fun making this especially because I was using clay. I can't wait to paint it! At first I didn't no what I wanted to do. I kinda wanted to make a wow piece, I was planning to do my name in graffiti but I thought a portfolio would be easier. My theme for this project was to make a portfolio. I decided to make the sky throughout the day using chalk pastels. I used chalk because I like how i could blend in the colors for the sky and make it look more like a sky. I did the sky because I really enjoy looking at it, I find it peaceful. Also, I wanted to make this project connect to me in some way. Throughout this project I learned how to use chalk pastels, and blending colors together. While I was working I would come across challenges and I would ask Ms. Shumann for help or ideas. When I did one of the pieces I struggled to get it to look like a sky, it looked more like the ocean, so i asked Ms. Shumann for ideas. |
